Standing at over 8" (21.5cm) these pieces are in superb condition and they cannot fail to impress.

Excellent Condition

When Britain's cities were targeted for bombing by the Luftwaffe during World War 2, children were evacuated to safer rural locations. These young children were often separated from their families for lengthy periods and lived with what were known as 'Host Families'. This little girl is preparing for evacuation and is carrying her belongings in a small suitcase and satchel. She is shown seated on her suitcase and holding her teddy. She has the traditional label attached to her, which would have noted her name, home address, school and destination. This models measure approximately 8 inches high and comes from a very rare Limited Edition of only 9500. The model was designed by Adrian Hughes in 1989 and is in excellent condition. At the time of listing I have all four models from this series available. This is a lovely, rarely available and highly collectable model which would enhance any collection.

The Artist A.Hughes explained in the accompanying documents: “This is your opportunity to reserve the companion figures in the Royal Doulton’s tribute to the Children of the Blitz.......... I have tried to capture the bewilderment that every child felt as they left home ... perhaps they thought, forever”

Because these hand painted pieces were produced early in the production run they possess an extra freshness and vibrance. To gaze at them is to experience a moment in history
