Antique Victorian Solid Silver Fusee Lever Pocket Watch - 1891
The solid silver case is in very good condition - it has a little pocket wear and the back cover has an engine turned design with a vacant cartouche in the middle - around the outside of the case is a coined edge. Push button down on top of the neck and the back will spring open. On the inside back cover is the Lion for 925 silver, a Chester hallmark, and a date letter for 1891. It has a case makers mark C. C. The watch is key wind with the key supplied. Open the front cover and push the button in at the bottom of the dial and the movement will swing open. The movement is very clean and working well, it's key wound and set with a fusee cone which is chain driven - a lever escapement - 4 round pillars which the full plate sits on a patterned balance cock - with a ruby end stone and a gold balance wheel. Push the movement back down and it clicks back into place.
The dial is an off white enamel with black roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at 6 o'clock. At the top is Improved Patent - it has no chips, hairlines or staining - it's just in very good condition. With the key supplied you can wind and set the hands, the watch will run the full length of it's wind and keeps good time.
Measurements 54.7mm in diameter - with out the neck and 22.2mm thick with the glass. All of the hinges are in good condition and working well. the glass is in very good condition with little wear or marks on it.
