Antique Victorian Chester Hallmarked Silver English Fusee Pocket Watch - 1874 - With a Key.
This lovely English solid silver open face pocket watch - No. 5253 has a Chester Hallmark - "l" = (1874) 0.925 silver.
The case is in very good condition with no dings or scratches, The hinges and catches are good but the flip spring for the back cover is not working - but still opens on the button. It has a little pocket wear. It has a lovely pure white ceramic dial - very good with no stains, scratches or visible hairlines.
It has golden hands and black Roman numerals with outer minute track and a sub seconds dial at 6 o'clock.
The watch measures 49 mm across.
The Makers Mark is-- S.J. For-- Samuel Jackson. Watch Case Maker and Silver Smith of - Albert Street, Coventry. Registered 1871.
It has a full plate 7 jewel barrel English Fusee movement. Signed Oliver Young, 27 Sandhill, Newcastle on Tyne. No. 5263. and with English lever escapement, which is running well and keeping reasonable good time.
