Antique Solid Silver J G Graves Pocket Watch circa 1905 - In Full Working Order.
Case : solid sterling silver bearing hallmarks for Chester 1905 with makers mark of T.P.H assumed to be Thomas Peter Hewitt. Case is in very good condition with some surface scratching commensurate with age, and some previous inspection marks. All closures snap shut, tight and secure, with all hinges are in good order with the bezel in good order. Press the top button down, and the rear cover springs open to reveal the watch winding aperture. There is a minor ding to the coined edge in the 2:00 region. The rear cover still has about half of the engine turning present having a blank car touché, with the case having a serial number of J5. Small ding to the rear cover along with some very minor denting.
Bow Assembly : in good condition with the bow being secure.
Crystal : is of glass, clear and free from surface scratches being a replacement.
Dial : is in MINT condition and is free from hairline cracks or chipping to the dial edges. Dial is white with black Roman numerals and sub second dial present. All hands are present and are in excellent condition. The minute and Hour hands being of a gold colour., with the second hand being blue steel in colour. Under the 12:00 region seen J G Graves, The Express English Lever, Sheffield.
Movement : full plate 7 jewelled going barrel Lever movement with split bimetallic balance running the full length of the wind, and keeping good time, +/- 2 minutes a day or better. The watch has been fully serviced with the balance having a good working action in all positions. The gilding remains in good condition and is free from any corrosion and scratches, very nice. A serial number of 774505 is present along with J G Graves Sheffield and reversing pinion. Watch is key set and wound, and a replacement key will be supplied with the watch.
